Winter Park Fleet Electrification

Optimus Energy Solutions is excited to announce that we are working with the City of Winter Park to electrify their municipal fleet infrastructure for utilities and other city services. Winter Park has shown leadership on items such as grid resilience and underground electrical transition and this transition to electric fleets is a natural next step. The City of Winter Park runs and manages their own utilities for the benefit of residents and visitors to the city. When a city or county has their own electrical utility service, the fiscal and operational benefits of transitioning to electric transport cannot be overstated.

In phase 1 of the project, which is currently underway, the focus is on City Operations and providing robust EV charging infrastructure for fleet electrification. Using ChargePoint EV charging infrastructure, we are providing a turnkey solution and cost-effective charging with no maintenance hassles falling to City staff so they are able to focus on their core services.

In phase 2, scheduled to begin later this year, we will install electric vehicle charging infrastructure at other service locations, including at the Winter Park Police Department to serve electric vehicles arriving later this year as well.

Winter Park is the ideal candidate for fleet electrification due to its relatively compact size (vehicle range is a non-issue, even for those cars operating on 2-3 shifts/day), the administration of their own utility, and their commitment to deploying resources effectively over the long-term. We appreciate the opportunity to work alongside them in education, design, implementation and maintenance as they work toward full fleet elecrification.
